The Dose: Who's on YouTube? We're on YouTube!
YouTube, Macro Mantis', and Getting Enough Fiber
Welcome to The Dose! We’re delivering bi-weekly health and science updates right to your inbox, and we’re including some humor, art, and fun along the way.
Updates to COVID-19 vaccines. The FDA updated the emergency use authorizations for the Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines, simplifying the vaccination schedule for most people. You can read more here.
Are you getting enough fiber in your diet? Do you know about the different types of fiber? Or complications from not consuming enough fiber? If not, grab an apple, and settle in to hear last week’s episode. You can listen to it here or if you’re a more visual person, check it out on our YouTube channel.
“April showers bring May flowers”. What do you really know about PoP or probability of precipitation? If the weather forecast calls for a 60% chance of rain, it doesn’t mean that 60% of the area is getting rain. Or that it will rain for 60% of the listed time period. It also doesn’t mean the forecaster is 60% confident that it’s going to rain. So then… what does it mean?!?! Well, check out this McGill article and hopefully learn something new!
We’ve posted about macro photography in previous issues, but it’s fascinating enough to mention again. This time, we’re showcasing the works of photographer Pang Way and his exquisite Malaysian mantis photos. He captures the movements of the mantis, which look like choreographed dances. You also receive an up close view of their colors, markings, and shapes. You can view more of the mantis photos here, and check out his IG here.
