Hi friends! Apologies for the delay in getting posts up here. I (Andrea) got COVID-19 myself (see our IG/FB stories/videos for more on that) and have been obviously under the weather. As such, this post will be a single cumulation of the last few social media posts (plus then you will only get one email notification):
First: Hong Kong provides a case study on what occurs with low vaccination coverage
The 2022 COVID-19 surge is a case study of what occurs in populations with low vaccine coverage. Only 49% of adults older than 60 years were considered fully vaccinated, and this proportion declined with age.
This is underscored by the fact that only 2% of adults 80 and older had received a booster dose, and only 18% were fully vaccinated with 2 doses. While vaccinate rates improved somewhat for younger adults, only 45% aged 70-79 were fully vaccinated, and 7% were boosted.
Of the reported deaths, 96% occurred among adults 60 and older. In addition, 70% of all deaths were among UNVACCINATED adults 60 and older. This means that unvaccinated adults 60 and older had a 20-times higher risk of dying than those who were vaccinated.
Please, if you are eligible and have not done so: get vaccinated. It will save lives.

We had the pleasure of speaking with Dr. Jennifer Lincoln (OB/GYN and science communicator extraordinaire) on our latest podcast titled, "Yoni eggs and vaginal steaming? We cliterally cannot."
