A corollary use of data that enrages me: anti-vaxers using VAERS as if it is real data.

VAERS is not real data. It is a dumping ground of unverified claims. Anyone can "report" anything therein; the data mean nothing until they've been verified. I, myself, put in a report that the Johnson & Johnson vaccine made my Johnson grow bigger. Doesn't make it true.

Gotta love a table that shows polio deaths at less than 1 per trillion where maybe 110 billion people have EVER lived on earth. So basically no one ever died of polio. So facially farcical that all it really shows is how many people are math and logic challenged.

Thank you for going through this. I look forward to your newsletter. I am an ER nurse/Corrections nurse. Unfortunately, I know a couple of nurses who are going down the anti-vax trail and I’m not sure how to communicate with them anymore. Tablets like this make it near impossible. Hopefully, I can share this newsletter and help them get back to the science.

Someone shared one such table of data with me, and I’m looking forward to your analysis. I didn’t know what to tell them except “that cannot possibly be true.”
